Skamp

I am nearly getting to the end of all the minis and kids puzzles that I have managed to acquire over the past while. I have been saving this one just because it is so cute and so specific to it’s era.

It’s called Skamp, though that seems to have been a series of kids puzzles that featured these kids with giant noggins out in nature, camping, grilling, etc.

This little kid has set up a tent and apparently prepared some beans and is trying to feed the puppy the beans. The pup is not too keen on this meal though, I don’t blame it, beans in red sauce are pretty awful.

I actually thought that was a rabbit for the longest time, but in looking at little closer, I am pretty sure it’s meant to be a dog. It does have a longer tail, I should’ve seen that sooner!

I love these kitschy drawings of kids with big heads or big eyes, it was such an aesthetic in the 60s and 70s. I am not entirely certain when this puzzle was released but I can tell you that the quality was awesome. It had thick cardboard pieces and they fit together so beautifully.

I love that it says, “large pieces for little hands”. Just the cutest!

This is a 50 piece puzzle released by Somerville Copp Clark, which seems to be either a collaboration or division of Somerville Games. Copp Clark is a publishing company that has licensed or published many products over the years it’s been active. Mainly books, but it does look they dabbled in puzzles and games too once they merged with Somerville.

There’s no date on this box, and there are very few examples of puzzles like this to be found on the internet, but my gut tells me 1970s or very early 80s.

I just think this is so darling and the quality of this puzzle is amazing!
