Song of the Unicorn

My very first puzzle of a unicorn. There are so many unicorn picture puzzles out there and I must admit that unicorns aren’t really my thing. I’ve honestly never really been into mythical or fantasy imagery like unicorns, pegasus, wizards, dragons, you name it. I never bought into it as a kid, and as an adult I’m not so drawn into them.

Now, don’t get me wrong , I can see the draw. I have read a few of the classic fantasy stories, ie. the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I certainly enjoyed them, they’re great stories but again the creatures and imagery of Fantasy isn’t really my thing.

So I’m sure that you must be wondering why I bought this puzzle?

What really drew me in was the illustration styles of all the greenery in this puzzle. I used to colour a lot as a kid and this drawing reminded me of the colouring pages I used to have. Gardens, flowers and little animals tucked away in the greenery.

Now, this is a vintage Springbok from 1982, which is always a treat, but I’m sorry to say that I never want to this puzzle again!

There are some older Springboks out there that have such a snug fit, this one was one of those. Ooof, this puzzle fit was so tight, my fingers hurt by the end. You had to literally force those pieces in, which made this so unenjoyable.

It was too bad, because this may the only unicorn puzzle out there that I’d want to put together. Oh well, we can’t win them all!

One treat in this puzzle was all of this original proof of purchase and the sheet catalogues from 1982. I love these so much, I identify the puzzles that I’ve completed before and of course, the ones I’d love to find on a future thrift hunt!
