On one of our many thrift trips, I found a cool looking vintage Ravensburger 300 piece puzzle of a watering place in the desert, with many of my favourites. Zebras, lions, elephants, giraffes all hanging out by the water.

I love a vintage Ravensburger, when I was showing it to Joe in the shop, I said… “hmmm, I should look inside the box just to take a quick scan of the puzzle pieces.” When I did, all I saw was dark and definitely not Ravensburger pieces. They did look familiar though, they’re looked a lot like a vintage Milton Bradley puzzle I assembled a while back – Schimmel.

So I was a touch sad that I wasn’t going to assemble this Ravensburger but so excited at the thought of another amazing Schimmel image!
I know that many people out there would not be so excited at all the dark parts of the puzzle, but the pieces are cut so uniquely that progress is possible, I slowed down but I didn’t hit the wall.

I knew there would be some kind of animal in space, but I had no idea what kind I would see. What do we think these are? Wolf and pup? I’m about 95% sure that’s what these are meant to be.

These paintings are so majestic, I was a little sad to find out that it was missing three pieces, but then again, this was a mystery, surprise puzzle anyway! I didn’t count the pieces but I’m quite sure that this was a 750 piece puzzle, all of the other Schimmel puzzles by Milton Bradley that I’ve found to date have been 750 piecers.

I have found one other MB Schimmel puzzle at the thrift shops recently, I really hope that it’s complete! Stay tuned 🙂
