We have a new special type of puzzle to feature here on thepuzzlesivedone. It’s a 3-D puzzle globe! I’ve seen these around, they’re not a new invention, but I hadn’t completed one previously. The ones that I have seen most often are a gradient rainbow ball, which looks pretty cool once assembled.

The pieces are a hard plastic and cut in a star shape, so the cut repeats over every 10 pieces or so, if the ball was a solid colour, that would have made this very challenging, but since there were faces and characters to line up, this was super doable. The only spot that gave me a headache was the very top of the ball, I had to rearrange the pieces several times, too many times!

I have to say that I was hooked! Joe said that he hadn’t seen me so engrossed with a puzzle for a long time. I worked on this for an entire evening, and couldn’t go to bed until I had completed it!

I think it was most successful because it was the Simpsons, this ball had every character on it, and I mean every character. It was pretty fun to scroll through all my memories of watching the show when I was younger. I remember watching the new episodes on Sunday evening and then recapping the show with my friends on Monday mornings by our lockers. You know, back in the 90s.

I chose this puzz for the cartoon puzzle along last week. I found this at the Mission Mart and was so intrigued by it, I’d had it for a while and though this puzzle along was the perfect time to pull this out. The whole globe was 240 pieces and the pieces fit in their place with a nice click and snap, the last few pieces didn’t quite snap in so they’re not perfectly flush. I’m sure if I wrestled with it a bit, I could get it to sit flush, but I didn’t want to break the whole globe, so I’ve left it. The brand that made this is RoseArt and it was made in 2005, almost vintage, haha!

Now that it’s finished, I’m not quite sure what to with it, but it’s currently being displayed on our shelf with some other knick knacks and I guess, toys. I don’t know how long I’ll keep it assembled for, but for now, its a fun conversation piece.
