Bark’s Books

Let the silliness begin! A book shop run by dogs, for dogs: and you have Bark’s Books. There is a brand that many people have spoken highly of, called Gibson’s Puzzles. They’re based in the UK and up until this point I’d never tried their puzzles.

I’m not really a fan of the image curation from them, they often make super traditional puzzles with kind of generic images, of people in an old town square, or a view of Paris and the Eiffel Tower. I don’t have anything against these types of pictures, they just don’t get me excited like other images out there.

They do make a few puzzles that I would happily pick up, but you don’t often find those ones at the thrift shop. This one was a fun puzzle and definitely the type I’m more into. Just a bunch of goofy looking dogs in some imaginary scenario like owning a bookshop. It’s silly and I’m here for it.

Now for the moment of truth…. I didn’t really enjoy this brand. The pieces were nice and thick and backed with cardboard, but the tabs had a lot of frayed and separated edges. Yes, I know that this is a used puzzle, so it’s very possible that it had been assembled many, many times before it got onto my puzzle board.

Maybe that’s the case, but this is from 2021, only three years ago, and I somehow doubt that this was the case. The completed puzzle was a bit tough to take apart without damaging the tabs further and I did have a lot of false fits which were hard to take out when I realized they were in the wrong spot. My hunch is that this was more of a quality issue.

Oh well, I tried them out and I do find one of the ones that I really like, I may pick it up, but I also may not. And that’s ok!

This silly little puzz is a 1000 piece count and it was complete, I’ve donated it back to the thrift shop and hopefully someone will be happy to find it. This fun artwork was created by an artist named Linda Jane Smith.
