Prince of the Pond

Well, well, well, what do we have here?

Could it be another shaped animal puzzle by F.X. Schmid from the year 2000? This giant puzzle (see feet in photo for scale) is called the Prince of the Pond, and it is in fact Frog shaped!

These puzzles are just so neat! They are also a very good challenge, you’ll find yourself thinking creatively to try and figure out the edge of the puzzles, even the inner pieces required a lot of thinking outside the box.

I love that this is all themed around wetlands, all the little critters that make their homes in the marshes, grasses and ponds of wetlands. I love frogs, and turtles, nature is amazing!

I always love the small selection of animal shaped pieces you can find in these puzzles, this puzzle included 2 frogs, 2 butterflies, and 2 turtles.

I was a little wierded out at the shape of the feet on this giant frog, they looked a little alien-esque. You know the stereotypical large headed, big eyed, long skinny fingered impressions of aliens? That’s what I see with the frog toes here.

I’ve had this in my collection for quite a while, and as I mentioned in my post last week, I want to shrink the size of my puzzle “to do” pile. I had a hunch that this was going to be challenging, I also wasn’t as drawn to this as much as I was with previous ones, I honestly think it was the feet! Ha ha ha!

But I finally puzzled this and I did really enjoy it, I saved the feet for last though.

This is a 1000 piece puzzle from F.X. Schmid, featuring artwork by Janet Skiles. This copy was missing 1 piece and I brought it back to the thrift store.
