I love raccoons! They are just the cutest little creatures out there. Their little hands and masks, those striped puffy tails, the babies are adorable too. I love their mannerisms, how they freeze and make eye contact with humans and continue doing their mischief, I love the way they dip their food in water, and don’t even get me started on how they chew their food.

So… when I saw this puzzle, even though it’s for kids, I knew I wanted to put it together. This was a good choice for 300 pieces, I think if it were 1000 or even 500, it would have been super difficult!

The artists is Kathy DeZarn Baynette, I am not familiar with their artwork, but if this is any indication, it’s pretty great! It’s playful, and chaotic, has a nature theme, it’s kind of up my alley.

This definitely captures their spirit well, that freeze and keep eyes on the human while going about their business is captured perfectly here.

I know a lot of folks out there are not really fans of these little guys, and I think that’s unfair. Humans always blame animals for making their homes nearby, or getting into their garbage, calling them stupid etc. They are also just trying to live and get by, feed themselves and take care of their families. Humans seem to forget the fact that we move into animal territories, and proceed to get angry when said animals are just trying to live their lives the way they did before they had houseguests.
Anyway, I’ll get off my high horse now. I just love raccoons. Also, rest assured that I’m an appreciator, I don’t feed them, or try to snuggle them, I know that is what becomes problematic in the animal human issue.
This puzzle is 300 pieces, released by Pomegranate in their kids line and complete!
