Yuletide Treasures

I am so happy that it is December once again! The winter season is my favourite, hands down. It’s been about -1 to -4 recently, and I even saw a few snowflakes falling yesterday. Chilly weather, shorter days, and longer nights, what a wonderful time of year.

There is of course a winter and Christmas themed puzzle along happening on Instagram this month as well. I managed to collect a whole bunch of winter landscapes and Christmas puzzles over the year and now is the time to break those out, for a puzzle marathon!

Bright, sparkly, vintage ornaments! Just a whole collection of them. They certainly are pretty, I’m sure some would say they are tacky, but I do love anything that captures the light at this time of year.

That’s my favourite aspect to winter, the light, and then the absence of it. When I was in the Yukon in 2015 over the winter, the “daylight” was this amazing filtered almost dusk level of light for a couple of hours in the afternoon, everything was so still and the snow really brightened up the forest. I think that trip is still one of my most special experiences to date.

This puzzle was missing a few pieces, unfortunately. A bit of a shame, because I really enjoyed it, the different textures and the little characters were a really fun aspect to this puzzle.

No doubt, anyone who’s been here for a while, or who knows their puzzles, can tell that this Yuletide treasure is from Springbok. Released in 1998, this is a true vintage puzz, with an even more vintage throwback aspect to it.

500 pieces, missing 3 and on the way to the thrift store to bring a little sparkle to someone else’s day. Stay tuned for more winter themes this month!
