Tom Thomson – Silver Birches

I had a whole bunch of mini puzzles found at the thrift store, and I wasn’t too interested in keeping all of them. So I assembled a lot of them before we moved so I could post them on Marketplace and hopefully not have to pack them and bring them with us to the new place.

This one was a 100 piece puzzle that was packed in a flat tin from Pomegranate puzzles. Remember Dancing Bears from Artist Dawn Oman? Well, this puzzle was packaged in a similar tin so I was hopeful that it might be a good quality little puzzle.

Sadly, this was not the case with this one. It’s the opposite scenario that I had with the Indigenous by CAP puzzles. I really enjoy Pomegranate’s large puzzles, they are nice quality and the pieces have a lovely fit, but this mini was, dare I say it, terrible! Loose fit, shiny finish and super crumbly. I even struggled to assemble 100 pieces in the right spots! That’s not a good sign.

So, if you’re looking for a good quality mini in a tin, go for the indigenous art ones and not the pomegranate ones, you’ll be happy for it! I do like the painting in this puzzle though, Tom Thompson, Canadian artist from the Group of Seven, I really like his art style, so that was one aspect I enjoyed about this little puzz.
