Archie

Did you ever read Archie Comics? I remember always reading a few panels in the checkout line at the grocery store, I would typically put them back on the shelf but sometimes, sometimes, my mom would buy a comic for me.

I would read through it the minute we either got in the car, or once we got home. I remember laughing occasionally, but in all honesty, I do remember groaning at the punchlines more often than anything.

I mostly remember loving Betty and Veronica’s wardrobes, that fifties aesthetic was a real favourite of mine. I do also remember looking for inconsistencies too. Either if areas were filled in, or if hair changed colour, etc.

Did I have a favourite? I think I was more on Betty’s side, if I recall she maybe wasn’t as well off as Veronica? Am I remembering that correctly? I just seem to recall having this opinion that Veronica was a bit cold and it was maybe due to her being rich?

I am a bit annoyed at the stereotypes in Archie comics, these two girls always at it, this clueless guy who can’t decide between them. He’s kind of a bumbling idiot, what do they ever see in him anyway? I wonder if that’s what my parents thought about these comics? Thankfully I’m not too easily swayed by pop culture and societal pressures!

All of my opinions aside, I had a really fun time assembling this particular puzzle image. Bright colours, Clean lines, and little vignettes. It was a pretty fun time!

I picked this up at a yard sale last summer, Joe bought a tool belt and I chose this puzz. All in, we paid 5 dollars. They did assure me that it was complete, it was indeed complete but for a short time I thought maybe it wasn’t, because a couple of mischievous and very hungry cats threw some pieces around to try and get me to feed them their dinner!

These photos were also taken before dinner on a different evening, it’s really hard to get anything done from about 4:30 onward!

This is a Cobble Hill release, 1000 pieces and complete.
