Have you ever heard of Micronauts?

Micronauts were a line of science fiction action figure toys in production between the years of 1976-1980 from the company Mego. They were inspired and licensed by a Japanese company called Takara in 1974, whose line of toys was called Microman.

I wasn’t aware of this line of toys when I bought this puzzle, I just thought this was a super cool image and I absolutely love this brand American Publishing Corp, or APC.
APC has released a lot of amazing puzzles over the years (see The Aztec Cosmos, Foxfire, and Un-SPOT-able to name a few) including some really wonderful trademarked puzzles – such as this puzzle. There are a lot of comic licensed images, old TV shows, and even stores or chains like Cows.

What do I love here? I love the blurry action lines in the photography, the composition is pretty incredible. I love that they are battling of a shiny surface, like a gloss lacquered table, maybe? I’m also a huge fan of the text on the box, did I wish that it was included in the final image? A little, but I also like the image without the text, if there could be two versions of this puzzle, then that would have been ideal! Ha ha ha!

This is a 1978 release and it is absolute perfection. The box is in perfect condition, the puzzle itself is in brand new condition, this is a perfect time capsule and I will most certainly be treasuring it from here on.

I found this puzzle in the Value Village in Sydney during our Cape Breton road trip over the summer. That was a pretty great thrift visit and more importantly a really great trip 🙂
