Ulli Schneider, an artist that I feel very familiar with but it could be that I’m thinking about Mordillo? Remember Golf Circus and The Dinner?

Many of the characters depicted in this wacky scene of a pirate ship under attack (?) or maybe just thriving on chaos have the similar features that Mordillo’s characters do. Large noses and very round torsos.

Maybe this was a popular style back in the 80s, or maybe they were friends or even rivals?? I wonder if one of them sued the other for copywrite or theft of intellectual property? I mean their art styles are pretty similar!

I will say that I enjoyed this puzzle much much more than I did my two Mordillo puzzles. I just love a busy image, they are so chaotic but really fun to spot the details. I was pretty pumped to find this puzzle and crack it open, I have seen it online before and always thought that it would be a fun one to build.

And it was! It did not disappoint.
It was missing just one tiny piece on the bottom right side of the border which was annoying, I would have loved to have found a complete copy. I guess that I still can, I’ll keep my peepers peeled for another copy at the thrift stores and maybe I’ll get lucky.

You may notice that I have completed a lot of Springboks lately. Definitely because I just love the vintage ones but there’s also a sort of puzzle along happening on Instagram right now, it’s called Boktober. So I have been a bit more Springbok focused with the odd other brand creeping in here and there. It’s been a lot of fun to dedicate a bunch of time to my favourite vintage brand.
