Well, I tried this one again! I found another copy of High Jinx on the the High Seas at the thrift store not too long after I had completed my first copy with the tiny missing piece on the border. I enjoyed it so much, and just found the illustration super fun to assemble so I thought I’d see if this second copy would be complete.

I also thought, hey if it’s not complete, maybe I can piece together a complete copy by taking a piece from the other puzzle to Frankenstein a complete one. I was pretty curious to know, so it jumped the line and I assembled it almost right away after bringing it home with me.

It really only took a couple of hours, and well, sorry to say that this one was missing two pieces! But, I thought, no problem, I’ll do some piece swapping and bam, I’ll have a complete copy to call my own.

What do you know, it turns out these puzzles are a different piece cut and a different print release! The text and layout of the sides of the two boxes are slightly different and the cut is definitely different.

So what is the reasonable thing to do, here? Why, keep both copies of course! What if I find this puzzle again? I know that curiousity will get the best of me and I’ll want to buy it, find out the cut and steal some pieces if they’re compatible!

My main question is, just how many copies am I willing to squirrel away until I find a complete one, or build a complete one from a compatible copy? I don’t have an answer to that question. Hahahaha.

500 pieces, different from my first copy and missing 2 pieces.
