There are a few puzzle companies out there that I have been super curious to try and never fully expected to find second hand. One company being a Canadian puzzle company called the Occurence. I have seen glowing reviews online and some of their images just looked so nice, but I thought they felt a little too exclusive to just come across one at the thrift store.

Well, sit on things long enough and you just might find that thing at the thrift store! I’m kidding obviously, I figured that one day I would find one on FB marketplace or I’d come across one new in a cool little shop, but I found one at the thrift a couple of weeks ago. I was delighted!

I was pretty excited to find this, and the fact that I thought the image looked really fun and engaging was a win too. I basically assembled this right away. Would I recommend this brand? Yes, it was a really nice one to put together. The quality was wonderful, the pieces are a little bit shiny but they had a really nice surface finish to them, I had a really great time with this!
The write up on the back of the box gave a little bit of background on the image, this is a seed catalogue cover from a Canadian seed company called The Steele Briggs Seed Co. The company was founded all the way back in 1873, and their success apparently came from the fact that they produced seeds developed specially for the Canadian climate and the shorter growing season. Something I never really noticed until we moved here, to be honest. I think Vancouver is a much easier place to grow plants than the rest of the country! I’m not a gardener, but Joe is, and he’s been learning a lot about the growing season here, and native plants etc. He loves it, and I love seeing the stuff he grows!

This sweet Canadiana puzzle is 504 pieces and it is complete, I’ll definitely pick up another Occurence puzzle in the future when and if I come across one.
