I found this puzzle at Value Village about a month ago and thought it would be perfect for a friend of mine, who reads a lot more than I do and also enjoys puzzles. At first, I wasn’t planning on assembling it to check if it had all it’s pieces, but over the month, I couldn’t get it out of my head.

I just thought it looked like a lot of fun! So, I decided to give it a check and assemble it before gifting it.

Well, I was right! It was a lot of fun! This actually reminds me a lot of Where’s Bowie, just a fantasy world of recognizable characters, this time from books and literature. The setting is obviously different, but the illustrations with the solid outlines and the busy nature of the image all together had a similar feel to the Bowie puzzle.

It was pretty interesting that the closer to the end I got, the more difficult it was. I started by putting together the larger areas of pattern or solid colour, followed by the book spines and pages. But by the last third of the puzzle, I was left with all the tiny details, namely the plants and all the little people scattered throughout the spaces between the books.

I kind of felt like two puzzles, which I always really enjoy. An easy or intuitive puzzle with tricky details, it’s a nice challenge for the brain.

This turned out to be complete and now I can confidently gift it to my book loving friend! 1000 pieces by Galison, featuring artwork by Hye Jin Chung.
