The Checkers Game – the Saturday Evening Post

Happy April Fool’s Day! Do you prank people on April 1st? I don’t, I honestly always forget, just like I often forget about Groundhog Day, which used to be significant for me, (I mean what a strange but adorable holiday!)

I thought this was kind of a neat puzzle, it’s a Springbok Puzzle PLUS release, and the PLUS part of this one is a spot the mistakes game at the end. What I found especially interesting about this image is that it is an actual bit of cover art for the Saturday Evening Post by Norman Rockwell specifically for an April Fool’s edition from 1943.

And here is the list of errors in the image, some of which I did not catch!

Here is the main image, hopefully you can spot all these things!

My favourite details are the clock that says April Fool, and the man’s finglers, is this a prediction of AI art not being able to accurately depict fingers??

I mean Norman Rockwell did a way better job of making a so called mistake on the human hand than most AI art generators, maybe because art made by actual humans is what makes it art?

Anyway, I had a lot of fun with this puzzle. It’s from Springbok in their Puzzle PLUS series, I do not have a date on this particular puzzle but many of the other Puzzle PLUS series were released in the late 80s to early 90s.
