Cholla and Sahuaro

I just love when you find that puzzle you’ve admired for a long time second hand. Something about ticking that little wish off your list just feels so good. I’ve seen this 500 piece Pomegranate puzzle on other Instagram profiles quite a bit over the past couple of years.

I’ve always loved the colours and the slightly washed out, sort of rougher style of this. In reading a bit more about the artist – Gustave Baumann – he did a lot of woodcut prints. Which is always a medium that I’m very drawn to.

He used oil based inks and a press, which was different from the traditional Japanese style of woodblock printing which was popular at the time he was making prints. I love the vibrant colours of this and other prints of his, that I looked up.

For a 500 piecer, this was a nice challenge. Those yellow blossoms, were a tricky batch, for sure. But I always love that, I’d prefer a challenging puzzle most times to a very quick and easy larger piece count puzzle.

This little puzzle is 500 pieces and complete, it was found at Value Village in Halifax and I was so happy to have a found a puzzle I’d been wishing for once again!
