I’m writing this on a very moody, drizzly day. Definitely not the idyllic winter scene depicted in this vintage Springbok puzz. Toboggans, horse and carriage rides, snowy hills, what a winter dream.

I recently did a vintage market (which went well, by the way!) and my favourite part of the weekend was chatting with people about their favourite types of puzzle image.

Many people out there seemed to enjoy what I had on offer, kitschy, slightly offbeat, a little strange, that was validating!
There were a lot of people that let me know that they really enjoyed a Charles Wysocki. To which I have to say…. I agree!

Now I wouldn’t say that I’ll limit myself to just Wysocki, but there’s something about these pleasant New England-esque images. They are meditative to put together, we daydream about running around in the fields, playing in the snow, or picking apples. It’s just nice, and there is nothing wrong with nice.

So, while I love a kooky offbeat kind of image, stay tuned for some good ones coming up, I also get into the traditional style of puzzles like this one.
If you like this puzzle, you might also get into Forever Apples Farm and Going for the Brass Ring.

The artist on feature here is Bob Pèttes, can’t say that I have heard of him but this was a very sweet puzzle to assemble and it had me daydreaming about winter days!
500 pieces, by springbok and released in the 1980s.
