A Cozy Christmas – a Two Sided Jigsaw Puzzle

I have done a few double sided puzzles over the years, I would say that the most prominent ones have been from Galison, such as Floret Farms: Cut Flower Garden and Distorted Cubes (A) & Distorted Cubes (E). Honourable mention goes to what I can only imagine must have been a show souvenir – Cats, the musical.

I had yet to see a double sided puzzle from Springbok! Well, the time had finally arrived, I found one. The image wasn’t the most intriguing but I was very curious to try a Springbok double sided puzzle.

The front side was a classic Springbok, nicely cut, an exaggerated piece outline, glossy finish. Just what I’ve come to expect from them.

And, I have to say that the other side wasn’t as successful as I’d hoped. You can really see the outline of the piece cut, to a point that I think it is distracting. I’m not sure how to avoid this, other than maybe cutting the puzzle from both sides, which I could see adding a lot more work in designing the die cut and probably having a larger margin for error.

But, I wanted to give it a try! I will say, I enjoyed the image more on the second side of the puzzle, I love all the creepy looking toys and the knit stockings.

But the front side has its merits too! A cosy fire, and plush looking tree, definitely a dream Christmas set up. Sometimes at Christmas we will play the fireplace image on the tv, haha! I used to think that was kind of silly, but it is actually nice and provides a cosy element to your space. Which is kind of strange, when you think about it!

This puzzle was released in the 90s and there a few pieces missing. My first ever double sided Springbok, and hopefully not my last.
