We have a special feature today! A thrifted and complete “Royal” sized Unidragon puzzle! Whaaaaa? The Royal size Unidragon puzzles are their largest piece counts, at 700 glorious wooden pieces.

Some of you may recall that in autumn 2022, Unidragon sent me a puzzle to assemble and post about on my blog and social media called Majestic Wolf. I really enjoyed that puzzle, as I mentioned just a couple of times in that post, ha ha ha.

So, when I saw this familiar pressboard box in the kid’s toys section at the thrift store I leapt for the puzz! A couple things, the lids on these boxes only snap into place, but you have to line the grooves up perfectly, I will say the lid was not securely fit onto the box at the thrift store so I was prepared to have an incomplete puzzle.

The second point, the image, it’s not exactly my style, I would not have paid brand new prices for this. I have nothing against mandalas or this type of intricate line work, but I wasn’t as excited by the colours and I am partial to their animal puzzles.
That didn’t really matter because it was priced at seven dollars and I knew this was going to be fun, no matter the image!

The quality just cannot be beat, this was such a pleasure to assemble. It was also a very good challenge. Each side was almost its own puzzle and they connected just by a few points. There was also a theme in puzzle cut for each yin and yang side.

It’s very hard to pick up in the photos but the purple/blue side had more geometric shapes they resembled gears and cogs and the purple/white side had more flowery rounded piece shapes. I loved that attention to detail, once again. It’s touches like that that really make this brand very special.

As I mentioned this was a complete puzzle find, though the little holographic dragon piece was not in the box, so maybe the previous owner kept that one for themselves?
Seeing as that’s an extra, I really don’t mind, it’s one you swap out for a photo op, so it’s all good. I’d say that this was a score, probably one of my best thrift finds of 2024!
