Tetris

Well, well, well, what do we have here? The 500 piece version of the Tetris puzzle I assembled in 2021. Friends of ours have a bit of a puzzle collection and one night when we were over at their house meeting their adorable kitten, now a catten, they asked if I wanted to do a frustrating puzzle.

Of course I was really curious what it would be and when they brought the Tetris box upstairs, I instantly said yes. I love trying different versions of the same concept of puzzle image, so having completed the 108 piece version, I knew that I wanted to assemble the 500 piece version.

This one had random cut shapes rather than the tetrimino cut shapes, and I would say that definitely made it challenging. This was a hard puzzle, until it wasn’t, if that makes sense.

Basically I built all the yellow blocks, which took me a good while. then I sat and stared for a bit until I decided to tackle another colour. So I went for blue which was still tricky but did go faster than the yellows.

Since this puzzle is panoramic, that meant that when I started to put the blue and yellow sections in place, some connections were already being made. At that point it really just became a fill in the gaps type of puzzle. I really enjoyed the two aspects to the assembly.

Which did I prefer? I think this one. I just enjoy a larger piece count, and a random cut puzzle, but I do really like the shapes in the 108 piece version, I think that’s a very fun touch!

Both versions are released by Master Pieces puzzles, which is a fairly decent quality brand for such an affordable puzzle brand.

I wonder if there’s a 1000 piece version. Or maybe I don’t want to know! Ha ha ha!
