Summer’s Delights

A puzzle to celebrate summer! I do find this puzzle strangely dark for that, but I like to think that we spent the day picking berries, fruits and flowers and now it is dusk on a gorgeous cool summer evening and we’re hanging in a garden looking at all the summer delights!

Joe and I just got back from a week long road/camping trip around Cape Breton, and boy is it ever summery there! There were a ton of flowers, and the trees and plants are lush and happy. It was absolutely gorgeous, we’d been to Cape Breton before in the winter and seeing it in the summer was an entirely different experience. The mosquitoes definitely knew it was summer too, I am their favourite flavour, so I did come back with a good amount of itchy bites. But it was an amazing trip, we had a really fun time.

When we got back and took a look at Joe’s garden, it was really amazing to see how much the plants grew over a week. Especially Joe’s sunflower, zucchini plant and the green beans, they really popped! I’m pretty excited for some nice garden fresh veggies and herbs, soon.

I think many of my readers know that I’m not the biggest fan of summer, it’s just too warm. But the seasonal fruits and berries, almost make it all worth it. Get me in the shade with some strawberries, and blueberries? Yes please! The strawberries have been pretty delicious here this year, Nova Scotia strawberries are smaller and delightfully sweet, they are incredible, and yes, I’ve been eating them basically non-stop!

No doubt, you already clocked it by the piece shapes, but this is a vintage Springbok puzzle, 500 pieces and complete. I’m not 100% sure on the release date but I am going to guess mid to late 1980s, judging from the box size and the the piece quality and fit.
