A Somerville Games puzzle. As you can see in the above photo, a 750 piece puzzle entitled Cottage by a River. I can’t actually see a river in the painting but I’ll take the artist at their word. I found this puzzle in one of my favourite shops in Kitsilano, called Stepback. They are a locally owned curated vintage shop, every once and a while they might have a cool old puzzle so I check in often.
It is too bad that two of the centre pieces are missing but this gave me a good challenge. The pieces were oddly shaped and because of the impressionist style of painting nothing seemed very clear. It was hard to tell if I had the right pieces together.
I did some digging and Somerville is a Canadian manufacturer, though the actual puzzle was lithographed in the USA. Here is a close up of the pieces that are missing.
