A special find for me, I spotted this German made, vintage puzzle in the window of my local thrift store. Manufactured just outside of my hometown of Stuttgart Germany in Altenburg. The manufacturer, a total mouthful…. Altenburg-Stralsunder Spielkartenfabriken or ASS for short.
Quality equivalent to Ravensburger, sturdy pieces, perfect fit, a lovely puzzle. 500 pieces and complete, I would guess it dates back to the 1970s.
I love to thrift, finding treasures that people have thrown away. The challenge and the quiet time focusing on assembling jigsaw puzzle pieces into a final image has interested and excited me for as long as I can remember. A few years ago I noticed that thrift stores always have a fully stocked "puzzles and games" section. Finally an endless supply of new puzzles to solve and a reason to keep thrifting!
