I have had this vintage Whitman – Crown Guild Puzzle for a long time. I am fairly certain that I picked it up from a thrift shop about 8 or 9 years ago.
The Ammonoosuc river is in Northwestern New Hampshire. Ammonoosuc is an Abenaki word for “narrow fishing place”. A vintage Whitman – Crown Guild 1000 piece Puzzle boasting an interlocking border and machine cut pieces, complete! The best thing about these vintage puzzles is always the box, the layout and graphics are fabulous.
I love to thrift, finding treasures that people have thrown away. The challenge and the quiet time focusing on assembling jigsaw puzzle pieces into a final image has interested and excited me for as long as I can remember. A few years ago I noticed that thrift stores always have a fully stocked "puzzles and games" section. Finally an endless supply of new puzzles to solve and a reason to keep thrifting!
