Granville Island in Vancouver is a place that I know well, it will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s a popular tourist destination in Vancouver, known for the Public Market, the Kids Market, Houseboat alley, Artisan workshops, the Net Loft, the Aquabus and more.
It’s also home to the Children’s Art Institution called Arts Umbrella. I danced there from when I was 8 years old until I was 19.

I then went on to work at Arts Umbrella for 17 years up until 2019 as a dance teacher, choreographer and and rehearsal director. I’ve spent many, many hours on Granville Island, it’s one of my favourite places to be!

My friend, Sasha works with the Granville Island Delivery Co. She let me know that they released this puzzle in 2021. When we were getting ready to move away, I kept reminding myself to buy this puzzle as a memento of my many years spent in one of my favourite places. When Sasha gifted this to me as a small going away present, I was so touched!

I had such a fun time putting this together! So many fun details and memories popped up while putting this together. Joe and I even went on our first date to Granville Island!

We went to JJ Bean for a coffee and to Lee’s donuts for a donut. Lee’s makes possibly the best donuts in Vancouver.

This puzzle is 500 pieces, released by the Granville Island Delivery Co. and was gifted to me. The artwork is by Lorne Craig of Unicycle Creative and Unitoons. The pieces are a random cut and fairly large, the fit is loose but exact so there aren’t any false fitting pieces which made for such a fun time! You can grab your own copy of this puzzle here.
I will leave you with the iconic neon sign and some dancers dancing on the roof ofArts Umbrella, which of course isn’t where the dancers rehearse!
