I think we all know how much I enjoy the Great American Puzzle Factory, how much I enjoy a challenging puzzle, and how I love an extra detail. This puzzle delivered!

A tough puzzle with that excellent vintage Great American Puzzle Factory quality. Were all the pieces the standard two by two shape? Yes.
Did I hate it? No way!
This was such a fun and engaging challenge, there were clear and obvious steps to the image, the composition of this is absolute perfection. I assembled the edge, then the charts along the edge, then the border of the star chart, then along the latitude and longitude lines, then the Milky Way and then I filled in the gaps. It was awesome!

It certainly took a while, I did work on it over the course of a week, but it was so much fun (and complete!)

Now, let’s talk about extra details… there was a 30 page information booklet inside, it covered terminology, gave a pretty extensive timeline of astrology from various different ancient cultures, not just the usual suspects. That honestly impressed me, this is from 1989, and the fact that it wasn’t 100% Eurocentric is impressive.

The other detail is the glow factor! This is a glow in the dark image, and wow, was it ever gorgeous. It did glow beautifully, and I’m sorry to say that you’ll just have to take my word for it. I didn’t photograph that aspect, it’s just too tough to capture on camera.

But yes, it glowed, and it was stunning!
There’s some real magic to the Great American Puzzle Factory Puzzles, the nature themes, the wacky illustrations, the kitsch. I think that they really delivered and offered up a unique product. Some of my all time favourites indeed!

1000 pieces, complete and in perfect condition.
Also, check out this 300 piece puzzle from a few years ago called Cosmos by Japanese brand – Appleone, basically the same image, smaller but just as challenging!
