A Tale of Two

Today, I will be talking about a brand of puzzles that a lot of puzzlers in the online puzzling world adore. I was skeptical, and I have to say that this brand just did not measure up in my opinion. This brand is called Art & Fable, they are based in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

They specialize in art focused puzzle images, naturally as the word art is in their title. I have no issues with their art choices, they are not always my speed but they don’t need to be. There are a lot of brands out there that make puzzles that are not my style that are definitely other puzzlers favourites, so they serve a market, for sure.

So, what was the issue? Well, for one, I had a lot of false fits, these are not necessarily cheap puzzles and the fact that there were a lot of misfits is just a problem in my opinion. This is a 500 piece puzzle and the image was pretty easy but there was a fair number of times that I searched and searched for a fit only to realize that I had the wrong pieces in place.

Well, I got there in the end and it was fine all in all, but I found myself annoyed by the time I finished rather than happy with the final product.

My other issue is more of a personal preference and that is thing that others just rave about when it comes to Art & Fable. And that is their soft touch pieces, which I just personally do not like. am actually really weirded out by that finish, ugh it just feels off. But again, that’s a personal preference and I knew that was a feature of their puzzles going into this.

But let me wrap this up by focusing on the artwork by Maria Brzozowska, It’s a very unique surrealist style of painting, I do like that about it. It reminds me of some Salvador Dali or Joan Miro pieces, I don’t really know what’s going on and I don’t have to to appreciate it.

This is a 500 piece puzzle that I picked up at a yard sale last summer and I decided to finally check it out. While I wouldn’t buy this brand again, at least I tried them out.
